Tribe Triumphs - Dan Murray-Serter

Laura Clarke, Wellbeing & Health Coach

Who are you?

Dan Murray-Serter, formerly known as Dan Murray, before I got married!

What do you do?

Co Founder of Heights and Host of the Secret Leaders Podcast. I love creating things that people love and delivers meaningful value to them.

What's your favourite motivational/meaningful quote?

"The illiterate of the 21st century won't be those who can't read or write but those who can't learn, unlearn and relearn."

- Alvin Toffler

What's one of your proudest achievements?

I can honestly say I think it's launching Heights. I am so proud of the work Joel and I have done getting it to this point, I can't wait to see what the future holds for us, and our mission to improve brain health and elevate cognitive potential for our tribe.

What is/are one/some of your biggest challenge(s)?

Concentration, always. I am careful not to say 'focus' because I feel so focused on Heights it's pretty much all I live and breathe (sorry, Podcast, but it's true) - however there's so many things to get done, and we've been doing it with 0 employees to get to launch which means there's not only a lot of new learning to do, but a million tasks to get done by deadlines which can all become very distracting!

What heights are you trying to reach right now?

I've started doing yoga 4 times a week and I'm loving the challenge of learning something new. My last challenge to myself was to meditate regularly and not be 'too busy' to remember. It took me years to master it but I just completed my 400th session on Calm, so I'm well and truly getting there now! Next step - yoga master! 🙏

What's your top tip, for keeping your brain in tip top shape?

This one for me is easy, because to me, the nutrition side is being looked after by taking my Smart Multivitamin every day... so it's.... (drumroll) 🥁.... walking everywhere. I walk to and from work every day and to all meetings. It means I get between 15,000 - 25,000 steps per day, I'm never late, I get fresh air, exercise and listen to podcasts on the way! It's my greatest lifehack and nothing else comes close, plus the brain boosting benefits are endless (and if you become a customer, you'll learn all about them too in our 'Movement' series).

What are the 3 favourite things in your life right now?(food/app/book/etc)

1. Well my favourite thing in my life at ALL times are my cats Archie and Bells

2. "Explained" on Netflix is brilliant - the episode on the mind was especially relevant and great, a must watch!

3. Sweatcoin - probably my favourite app - pays you for walking, which for me is just the dream!

What changes have you noticed since using Heights?

Well, of course I'm biased but I do a lot of control testing on myself and I've been taking it for over 3 months. People have been asking how I do so much at the moment without wearing myself out - and that's the best way to describe it. I feel full of energy, creativity, and I'm sleeping well - so really getting a winning combo.
